You May Be Right

You May Be Right

It is a very interesting time as we see the rise of moral relativism and the decay of a set of values based on biblical principles and a moral code of ethics.

Much of this thinking can be attributed to the enlightenment many believe they have achieved and are achieving today; they may say this set of principles or code of ethics is outdated and archaic.

The premise is that things change over time.

Though things change over time, the basic moral standards of right and wrong given to us by God are universal; they do not change and apply to everyone.

If your issue is with your belief in God or lack thereof, or if you question whether having a set of moral standards and ethics that includes everyone is possible, consider this: It is impossible to deny the fundamental rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness apply to everyone.

Because they apply to everyone, these rights demand a code of ethics and a moral standard we all adhere to.

The virtue signaling associated with believing everyone has their version of truth is as naive as thinking we could all agree on that truth.

“You may be right” is an act of empathy for many today as we see them wrestle with things such as sexuality, gender, and the like.

It is crucial to consider whether we can progress with a value system solely based on individual beliefs. “You may be right,” the assertion goes; times have changed.

Perhaps, but what if your belief that a new value system is needed is wrong? What if it is impossible to live together in a world where what one person believes is right for them and what the next person believes is right for them can coexist?

The idea that the nature of man or to be a politically correct woman is to be accepting and considerate of opposing truths is shortsighted, no matter how it makes someone feel.

We do not have to look far to know this is true. All we need to do is look at our past to find instances where atrocious acts were committed by those who believed they were right. This history should be a stark reminder of the dangers of unchecked self-enlightenment.

I will close by saying, “You may be right.” As you read this, you may think I am crazy, but what if you are wrong? Then someone like me may just be “the lunatic you are looking for”!

Proverbs 30:5-6 “Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him."
